Don’t you deserve some peace this weekend?

Hi ZORA fam,

October is in full swing, Mercury retrograde is kicking butt and the changing of the seasons is beautiful to behold. Over here at ZORA I see you working, providing for your loved ones and balancing the zillion things that all women wind up juggling throughout the week.

I hope you find peace this weekend. I also hope you can carve out a few moments of solitude and self-care. To that end, writer Kimberly Fosu offers three tips to ensure you are on the right path. If the day job is giving you the blues, Jonita Davis tells us how to identify and avoid burnout at work.

Professional and dating relationships took centerstage this week as food and drink journalist Audarshia Townsend whipped up the quintessential guide to knowing if that first date — whether it be cheap food or several hundred a plate — bodes well for the relationship. Maia Hoskin, PHD, dissects why Ellen Pompeo felt she had the right to open her mouth and disrespect Denzel Washington in the way that she did. And Elisabeth Ovesen tells us all about how to call out bullshit when you see it.

All of this within the shadow of Mercury retrograde, a placement that astrologer Camille Michelle Gray says is not worth the histrionics. Instead, she suggests, it’s time to lean into it.

That said, many things do go right during retrograde and we have to shout out ZORA’s own tarot columnist and self-proclaimed mystic mama Amber the Alchemist for reaching 4,000 followers — all of whom are loyal readers of Amber’s Spirit Medicine column which drops every, single Sunday. This week’s read was all about embracing change and seeking the happy in the week. Check it out on Sunday to see what the cards have in store for the collective.

Stay safe this weekend, and I hope you are able to work some self-care into your schedule.

Thanks for reading.

Adrienne Samuels Gibbs, Editor, ZORA
