Trust Your Instincts — You Know More Than You Think

Sometimes we seek that stamp of approval to confirm we are on the right path, but your higher self’s cosign is more than enough!

The elder tarot card from the Akamara deck

Stored within us are the lessons + wisdom not only from our ancestors, but from past experiences and past lives. This week, Spirit brings our attention to the ways in which we so often trust in the wisdom of our loved ones without honoring our own wisdom first.

For this week’s message, I pulled the elder tarot card — illustrated by a man leaning on a cane — which speaks of the systems, traditions, social constructs, and rules we adhere to. It represents the hierarchical structure in society, religion, big business, families, and other communities. In these structures there’s a person — a “higher up” — that essentially calls the shots and holds authority over the community which it “rules.” This week challenges us to do the exact opposite of conforming to those structures and navigate through our week utilizing our own internal compass.

There are certain patterns or experiences that repeat themselves. Initially, we’d rely on our elders, spiritual leaders, parents, and mentors to walk us through these situations, but this week Spirit wants us to trust ourselves and prioritize time to reflect, meditate, and get in tune with our bodies. In fact, if we choose to rely on anything outside of us this week, it may stifle our growth, cause confusion, or lead us down a path that isn’t authentic to who we are. Sometimes we seek that stamp of approval to confirm we are on the right path, but your higher self’s cosign is more than enough! It’s the only one you need.

Learn to trust your instincts and move to the beat of your own drum.

Spirit says this: “You don’t give yourself enough credit or time.” Meaning, we don’t give ourselves a shot, or adequate time to process things before we rush for validation.

Or maybe we’re just continuing to make decisions, choose career paths, or relationships that make our family or elders happy, but compromise our own well-being.
