When some people think of Tina Knowles, they may automatically default to her superstar daughters Beyonce Knowles-Carter, Solange Knowles, “her bonus daughter” Kelly Rowland, and the private yet mogul-esque empire the family has built. Or they may think about her undisputed eye for fashion. But her recently released and highly anticipated memoir “Matriarch” is giving readers a heartfelt and captivating story of love, family, trials, and triumph that transcends beyond her children and her thriving career to explore the journey she has traveled in creating her legacy and the wisdom and life lessons she has collected along the way.

Over a decade ago, Knowles began recording memories on her cell phone for her grandchildren to one day listen to.

“I wanted them to have a piece of me and my story, even when I am no longer here,” she shared. “No matter what, I wanted them to know who and what made me who I am today.”
