Lessons from My 2023 Horoscope

Last year, I decided to forgo writing the traditional New Year’s resolution (that I would surely abandon by February 1st) and instead wrote my horoscope — a manifestation of everything I wanted, desired, and deserved. It was a liberating and beautiful experience to take control of my narrative. Leading up to last year, I felt as if my narrative had been stripped away from me by debilitating fear, anxiety, depression, and grief. I declared that 2023 would be my “Winning Season,” and to say that I exceeded my expectations would be an understatement.

In addition to declaring my “winning season,” I also wrote that I would have influence and have a platform to help and serve others, which is my true passion and purpose that I know God gifted me with. Little did I know that I would become an Assistant Principal of a K-5 school months later, doing what makes me feel complete. I’m grateful every day to be able to support students, their families, and staff. Almost simultaneously becoming an AP, I was invited to speak at Medium’s first “Medium Day,” where I had over 100 people participate worldwide in two live sessions. It was a great experience that opened the door to my desire to do more public speaking.
