Ever hear the phrase “once in a blue moon”? Well, tonight you’re going to see one. A blue moon is an astrological event where a full moon happens twice in one month. They’re fairly rare and astrologically significant. Space.com says they happen around every 2.7 years and have nothing to do with their color. That timing is why people are making a big deal out of a full moon coinciding with Halloween and also being a blue moon to boot.

This week’s Taurus full moon is a bit busy considering it is a blue moon and occurring on Halloween. A blue moon happens when there are two full moons within one (calendar) month.
