It’s Time To Step Up And Lead
This week’s tarot spread shows that you don’t need a title to thank the ancestors and make things happen.
Some of us don’t have the passion to lead because we haven’t had the privilege to sit in the presence of a triumphant leader. How can we know how to show up as a role model if we haven’t had a nearby example of it? Plus, we’ve seen the consequences and fear-filled tactics that come with being a Black revolutionary — from the media attacks, deaths, accusations, attempted silencing…the list goes on. Our skin alone is perceived as a threat, so Black skin with a unique point of view or trailblazing idea? Intimidating.
It’s almost to the point where it feels easier to just put our heads down and turn a blind eye to the bullshit happening around us. This is a trauma response passed down from our parents, grandparents, and ancestors— to accept certain circumstances because it’s not worth putting ourselves or our families in danger. We’re taught to pick our battles, but today’s battles aren’t the same as they were 50–60 years ago. Essentially, the root is definitely the same, but they’re clothed differently.
