Rest In Power: Ayesha K. Faines
ZORA columnist Ayesha K. Faines passed away on July 2. Her parents want to honor her legacy.
The world has lost a rising, shining star.
Ayesha K. Faines was a writer, a journalist, a media personality, a friend and a woman of power. She joined the ZORA fam as our Sex & Love columnist in 2020 and her spot-on critiques of pop culture and her advice immediately made a lasting impact on readers.
Prior to coming to ZORA, Ayesha was an on-air traffic anchor for WJXT4 in Jacksonville, Florida. She founded Women Love Power, a platform for women’s empowerment programs and community. Ayesha was also known for her appearances as a panelist on The Grapevine where she was always energetic, honest and optimistic (and always right).
Her words, her beauty and her wisdom will live on in the memories of all who had the chance to know her, work with her and love her. Below is a statement from her parents:
Ayesha K. Faines was born with asthma and multiple severe food allergies. On June 29,2021 Ayesha suffered a fatal anaphylactic reaction from an unknown allergen.
She transitioned from this life on July 2, 2021.
Ayesha was a blessing and gift from God to us and our family on loan for a very special period of time. God reclaimed Ayesha. There are no words in any language that remotely approximate our feeling of the transition of our daughter. Her intellectual impact on numerous issues, especially women empowerment, was groundbreaking and transformative. Ayesha is a true visionary. She did it with unparalleled humility, style, grace, vision and power. Rarely does amazing culture, style and intellectual acumen intersect in one person as it did with Ayesha. She was the epitome of a woman of power.
