Politics Are Trash and So Is Everything Else, Apparently
Medium writer Tressie McMillan Cottom has some questions about the shows y’all love so much
We’re all looking for ways to distract ourselves from the — how did Jake Tapper put it last night?—the “hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck” that is American politics these days. Between the death of a beloved Supreme Court justice, the raging pandemic, and the upcoming election, escapism has become one of the few ways any of us can get any peace of mind.
Along those lines, Medium writer Tressie McMillan Cottom reached out for some recommendations for mindless entertainment with which she could drown her sorrows about the state of the world. Unfortunately for her, she was less than satisfied with what she put on her watchlist. Fortunately for us, her reactions to these shows are more entertaining than the shows themselves.
“What the hell are y’all thinking with Outlander?” Tressie writes about one show recommendation. “I feel like I should tell you that there are easier, better ways to enjoy pornography. You don’t have to subject yourself to this.”
