Play Your Anxiety Away
Take a break from politics and give your inner child some love
We’ve made it through the election night we’ve been anticipating (or fearing) for months, but with news pundits repeating the “too early to call” refrain, it seems like we’re going to be living in political limbo for a little bit longer.
We at ZORA know what’s at stake with this election, and we know how stressful waiting for the results over the next few days is going to be. So we wanted to give you a break from election coverage and offer you a moment of zen. Instead of political hot takes and think pieces, we’re sharing stories that remind you to rest, relax, and have some fun.
You can start by turning off that TV and that Twitter feed and getting your body moving! As afrobella writes, taking yourself on a playdate can be healing for your body and your mind.
“I’m trying to find a way to give myself more play and to use play as a way to examine and restructure my own relationship to my body and movement,” she writes. “Reparenting through play is a new form of self-care and self-awareness for me. It’s a way to repair my relationship with my body and movement and simultaneously give my inner child what she needs.”
So pick up a jump rope or dust off your old bike and remind yourself what it feels like to to be carefree.
