“There are years that ask questions and years that answer.” — Zora Neale Hurston, author, activist, icon

What’s up, ZORA fam? We’re officially halfway through the year 2020, and it’s been an eventful one to say the least. But these hard times may carry some valuable lessons with them.

This year has taken a lot from us with the pandemic raging and the loss of Black lives through racial injustice. But it’s also given us a lot of opportunity. So many of us have found new ways to connect with friends and family in lieu of in-person meetings. We’re seeing unprecedented structural changes in how corporations and the justice system operate when it comes to diversity and justice. And having time alone is allowing some of us to get to know ourselves better.

Tragedy and quarantine have been hard to deal with. But when the hard things happen, we can learn from them and bring about some good things in our lives.

We want to know what you’ve learned so far this year. Let us know on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #ZORACheckIn.
