It’s December 26th, and I find myself in the final hours of my 5-day hunger strike. I’m compelled to share this reflection not only for my own sake but for anyone interested in understanding the journey. The challenges of the hunger strike weren’t limited to the actual fasting; they began before I even embarked on this path. Facing concerned expressions, worried eyes, and well-intentioned inquiries about the who, what, and why of my decision from friends and colleagues was far from enjoyable. Yet, I am immensely grateful that the very first person I confided in was my brother. Despite our past bickering, he has become a steadfast support as we’ve matured.
