Kanye West’s Disturbing Behavior Can’t Be ‘Saved’ Or Fixed By Black Women
Black women are not the cure for West’s psychological and emotional spiral, nor should we be viewed as America’s invisible and voiceless savior.
The drama between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian over the last several weeks has been like watching a car crash — you want to look away, but you can’t help but watch. Although some might find Kanye’s cringy social media posts to be entertaining and easy fodder for gossip blog content, others — like myself — find his recent behavior to be deeply disturbing and feel concerned for all parties. While I can only hope that everyone involved finds the peace and healing they desire, I couldn’t help but notice the recent viral post about Kanye West needing a Black woman to come to save the day.
Newsflash: Kanye does not need a Black woman; he needs a psychiatrist and mental health attention. Further, the media and others need to stop perpetuating the strong Black woman savior trope that is as harmful to Black women as it is entirely untrue and unfounded.
