The termed concept of gender diversity allows the possibility for a person’s gender identity or expression to be different from those assigned at birth. This notion is most often associated with transgender, an umbrella term for those who “reassign” or “transfer” gender identity different from their biological assignment.

Irrespective of transitions implemented to affirm gender diversity, the conviction on trans-identities, such as transwomen has always been the reigning ethos that “transwomen are women,” — period. Additionally, trans women face significant, disproportionate rates of discrimination in many areas, from employment to sexual violence and hate crimes to social biases such as racism, misogynoir, and transphobia. This disparity was never lost upon biological women, who also face similar acts of discrimination.

And if I’m honest, no gender has been more of a natural ally to transwomen in this regard than, well…women.
