So, listen, outside of a drug-themed anthem or two, I haven’t paid Jeezy any attention for years. Sure, he’s a talented rapper and all of that, but he’s never been a fave of mine on any level.
I mean, much respect to him for his success — and I genuinely mean that, but his persona has never really resonated with me. The main thing he raps about is selling cocaine and making money. But if y’all like it, I guess that’s all fine and dandy, like sour candy.
And honestly, I never even looked too much into his dating history. If you’re from the hood or even hood adjacent, you already know that darker men who make a lot of money usually hate phenotypically Black women. This is not something I’m even willing to debate about, and I say this as a woman who has actually dated such men in my past.
Even when I saw that he left his wife, Jeanie Mai, I didn’t care. I believe in divesting from divestors, and since Jeezy has never shown any sign of being concerned with the Black community and, least of all, Black women and children, he was of no interest to me.
Until now.
