It’s Time To Enforce Boundaries With Your Extended Family

Sit with the word, family, what does it mean to you?
Who comes to mind? How does it feel?
Iya cutlass wants us to take initiative with how we show up in our family structures. She is the ruler of intellect, planning, strategizing, creating structure, and telling it like it is! She’s not afraid to voice her opinion and get down to the nitty-gritty.
We consider all these qualities when it involves taking the necessary steps to build our career, but are we as intentional when navigating through our relationships with our blood and chosen families?
Establishing healthy boundaries is essential, but it can be especially difficult to enforce when our families feel entitled to our time and energy. Channel the power of Iya Cutlass this week to speak your truth or create new habits to connect with your tribe without compromising your personal/self care time.
Maybe it looks like orchestrating weekly family zoom calls or Sunday dinners.
This will be a season for many of us to step up and create new traditions, seek information about our lineage, question our elders, take on the role as the family historian, scrapbook, create some sort of family tree or directory.
Our elders are getting to a point where they need to pass the baton, and what I’m hearing this week also is “rite of passage.” You may have a conversation with your family regrading a family inheritance, property, writing wills, etc.
