With her new cooking show, Kelis adds ‘cannabis queen’ to her resume

If you’ve ever wanted to get high with Kelis — and of course you have, who are you kidding? — now is your chance. Perfectly timed for your 4/20 celebration, Cooked with Cannabis, a marijuana-themed cooking competition hosted by Kelis, launches today on Netflix.

While Kelis, who recently toured Europe to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her debut album Kaleidoscope, was first introduced to the world as a singer, her primary professional focus for the last several years has been her growing food empire. Kelis graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in 2008 and launched her Bounty & Full sauce line, featuring flavors like ginger sesame and pineapple saffron, five years ago.

The Harlem native now lives on her California farm with her husband and two sons. She also co-owns Bounty Farms in Quindio, Colombia. “I feel like there are not enough women that are getting credit for farming, especially Black women,” Kelis says.
