I’d Rather Be Anxious, Tired, and Bored Doing What I Love

Sometimes I just become ungrateful and take things for granted. I have to remind myself that I’m currently not working a 9–5 and how much I love that. Then, I have to remind myself that even though being home can get boring — it’s a boring I’d much rather experience than the one of going to a job I hate every day.

Any job whether you love it or hate it can make you tired, anxious, and bored. It's just that when you are doing something for you, it’s a different type of tired, anxious, and bored.

It’s not soul-wrenching, mind-numbing, spirit-killing aimlessness.

It’s rewarding, at times joyful, and gives you a feeling that you are moving in the right direction.

When COVID started and my job told us we would be laid off my soul smiled.

Worried?

Not at all.

They would continue to pay us for a few months and then unemployment would kick in. I guess I was grateful for that job because it allowed me a worry-free period of unemployment.

They told us in person. We gathered on the floor where the GM broke the news. I looked around and I saw worried…
