’T’Tis the season to revel in good tidings, cheer, and the spirit of giving. Despite the ups and downs of the year, this is when many of us set aside our troubles and focus on uplifting activities and sharing joy.

It can also be a tough time for folks who struggle with loneliness, depression, and tense family relationships, so I want to honor that: You are loved, valued, and appreciated. One of the things that makes me feel extra good about this time of year, especially when I may be grappling with negative feelings, is to give gifts and do kind things for the people I love. So, if you’re like me and you’re looking to do something a little different for 2019, whether for your intimate partner(s) or yourself, I’ve got some cool ideas to make this year one of your best gift-giving years ever.

IfIf you’re looking to turn the heat up in your bedroom on these cold winter nights, sex toys make amazing gifts. We’re no longer feeling shame for buying sexual enhancement toys because we’re reclaiming pleasure and getting off every which way we can. Feelmore Adult Gallery, the only queer Black-owned sex toy store in Oakland, is also a great source for intimate delights. Nenna Joiner started selling toys out of the back of her car before hustling her way to not one, but two successful shops in California. Now, patrons can find a wide variety of toys for all bodies.

The Butterfly Kiss vibrator ($21.49) is an affordable, discreet toy that provides internal and external stimulation simultaneously. If you can splurge on a higher-end device, treat yourself and try the FemmeFunn Booster Rabbit ($112.99) which boasts seven vibration modes and three rotation speeds. For those couples trying to take their sex toy play to the next level, they also carry the Bluetooth-synced WeVibe remote-controlled vibrator ($199). This revolutionary flexible vibrator has its own smartphone app that allows partners to stimulate each other from anywhere. Peruse the website or visit the shop and find everything from lubes and lingerie to leather ball gags and paddles.

Maybe you’re looking to give the gift of a new experience and want to invest your resources in something for…
