How Far Would You Go to Spice Up Your Sex Life?
Those who dare are seeking out the swinger set
Turn the pages of any woman-focused magazine and you’ll see articles about how to “spice up” your sex life. Everything from introducing sex toys, trying out kinky, BDSM-type activities, and role-playing are the go-to recommendations. You may even read suggestions that include having a threesome if they are trying to be more risqué. Rarely do you see advocacy for another fun, healthy alternative: sex clubs. I’m here to make the case for the swinger lifestyle for those who really want to kick their sex lives up several notches.
Sex clubs and swinger parties are where people, mostly couples, go to enjoy sex with people outside of their relationship. “Swinging” became popular in the United States during the sexual revolution of the 1960s. After the Vietnam War, there was a collective depression forming dark clouds over communities across the country.
People were eager for reprieve and the hippies’ spirit of “free love” spread quickly, promoted primarily by music and activism coming out of California and New York. Conservatives argued that the advent of birth control pills encouraged people to have more casual sexual encounters, but while I’m sure it was a consideration, the Pill wasn’t the driving…
