Please read the following account from Robert Ray Jr. about his experience as a resident who was discriminated against during his time at Lehigh Valley Health Network in their emergency medicine residency. Though I am not in medicine, I feel strongly for his story and do not believe that the people responsible, such as Dr. Gillian Beauchamp, Dr. Shawn Quinn, Dr. Gavin Barr, and Dawn Yenser, should be left to further their damage and discrimination.
These people will not hold themselves accountable in any “investigation,” so this will need to be a trial of public opinion. They cannot be allowed to veil their discrimination as simply their conservative political beliefs. But the truth is when people in power have the ability to deem things such as “Black Lives Matter” as political and restrict people from wearing items, they are abusing that power. They will simply hide their racism with a dress code they will enforce however they please.
I would highly recommend no one see these doctors or go to Lehigh Valley Health Network.
