“My alone feels good, I’ll only have you if you’re sweeter than my solitude.” — Warsan Shire, poet

During the earlier months of the lockdown, I went through so many internal changes with how I felt and navigated the world. I was spending so much time by myself that I had no other choice but to focus on every emotion, every sensation, and every groove within my body. My home may have stayed the same but the home inside of myself was being remodeled.

Oftentimes, if we’re not careful, we can subject ourselves to others’ fickle behavior and use said behavior to validate our beauty, thoughts, beliefs, and decisions. But when we return home and after we shut out the lights for bed, how much of you is left for you?

Solitude — not loneliness — is a delicious experience. It helps us to recharge, refocus, and recenter on making the self our number one priority.

Where do you fall on your priority list? #ZORACheckIn
