“There’s nothing more powerful than truly being and loving yourself.” — Janet Mock, author, activist, director, showstopper.

“Do you remember that time when…”

I spent some time with some of my oldest friends recently, women I’ve known since we were freshmen in the college dorms. We were reminiscing about all of our (mis)adventures. They were reminding me all the times I’ve been silly and funny or angry and justice-oriented, all the various aspects of my personality.

These days, my personality feels pretty bland. I spend most of my time by myself not really doing much. But I remembered what it was like to be myself while surrounded by some of the people who know me best. It was nice to be reintroduced to the moments that made me, well, myself. It was nice to be reintroduced to me.

There really is no power like really being yourself. If you’ve had a hard time under quarantine, I encourage you to stroll down memory lane and remind yourself of the moments that make you you and really step back into your power.

How are you reintroducing yourself to yourself and to the world? Let us know using the hashtag #ZORACheckIn on Twitter and Instagram.
