“I am a woman in process.” — Oprah, media titan, actress, producer, and philanthropist

Back in the day, I was a sprinter who had an aversion to long-distance running. Later, I ran two marathons. There was a time when I used to think skipping coffee purchases was a surefire way to stack paper (gotta love millennial financial advice). Then, I smartened up. When I was a kid, I used to hate my hair because I thought it was too big, too thick, too much. Now, I revel in it.

What does Kelli from Insecure call that? Ah, yes. Growth.

As we evolve, we’re bound to adapt new ideas and disprove ourselves; to change our minds and our hearts. Again and again. We’re in process. Even when we’re combing through the complexities and messiness of life to discover more about ourselves and the world around us, as we try to make sense of it all. Being in process is, as Oprah puts it, trying “to take every conflict, every experience, and learn from it.”

There’s beauty in your personal journey, as you arrive at the person you’re becoming. — Christina M. Tapper, ZORA deputy editor
