“When the music changes, so must your dance.” —Elaine Welteroth, writer, editor, history maker

If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that plans are made to be broken. At the start of the year, I made it my personal goal to both be more social and also be more active. So I signed up for dance classes! I loved meeting up with new girls every weekend and learning to move my body in a healthy way.

Then the pandemic hit. And, like most folks, I spent the first few months trapped in my home being sedentary and angry that my plans had fallen apart. But one day I thought, I can sit on my butt being mad for the rest of this pandemic, or I could get up, practice my dances around my home, connect with my new friends online, and find a new way to be active and social.

This is a very literal interpretation of Elaine Welteroth’s quote, but it’s important to be willing to embrace change and go with the flow. The alternative is sitting still while the world moves on without you.
