“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” — Maya Angelou, poet, author, singer, actress, wonder woman

Hey, Zora Fam! How’s quarantine treating you? Personally, I’ve noticed my days kind of blending together as I go through the same daily routine without many deviations or distractions. I hardly change my clothes or my hair anymore because it’s not like I’m going anywhere or seeing anybody (I don’t remember the last time I put on lipstick, lest it end up all over a mask).

We’re all stuck in the house and so deep in survival mode, we can forget to find ways to have some fun. But I turn to Maya Angelou’s quote to remind myself that life is about living! So I try to change it up from time to time.

Maybe instead of going for my usual morning walk for exercise, I’ll dance around my house to reggae music till I break a sweat. Maybe I’ll get dressed up and go on a virtual date or happy hour with friends. Maybe instead of sleeping in, I’ll wake up early and read a book that’s been on my shelf for a while.

I know our summer fun is limited this season, but that doesn’t mean that life has to become boring. What are some ways you’re spicing up your life? Give us your tips using the hashtag #ZORACheckIn on Twitter or Instagram.
