“Fear is inevitable. I have to accept that. But I cannot allow it to paralyze me.” Isabel Allende, author and creator of worlds.

A few days ago, I left my house for the first time in a very long time. I was safe, of course! Kept a face mask on and sanitizer on hand while I kicked it in an empty lakeside park with a couple of buddies. Even while remaining distant from my friends, it took me a while to get comfortable in this new normal. But the more hours I spent under the summer sun, the more my fear and anxiety began to thaw out and I started relaxing, laughing, and even having fun.

ZORA Fam, we’re living in some scary times right now. The future is unpredictable and there are a lot of things that can harm us out in the world. But this quote from author Isabel Allende reminds me that we can’t allow ourselves to be paralyzed by the unknown. That doesn’t mean we should abandon all caution (please wear a mask, everybody!), but we should remain flexible to adjust to our new normal. We can’t forget to live.
