Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!

As per usual, I come bearing gifts!

This time, I’d like to offer a gift in the form of a PSA to everyone who is not a Black woman:

An unfriendly reminder that Black women don’t owe you sh*t!!

Also, although this applies to Black women across the board, I am especially speaking for the darker-skinned, phenotypically Black women.

In light of recent events, I need to make it clear, once and for all, that we (Black women) do not owe you our strength.

The world has run amuck, and I’ve seen various groups and individuals who seem to be waiting for Black women to swoop in and fix everything.

Keep waiting; We are finally focused on fixing ourselves.

For centuries, Black women have been the proverbial “backbone of the community.”

At this point, we are tired.

Yes, I realize some “scholar” is preparing to jump in my comments to tell me about the history of slavery and how “massa” immasculated men, yada, yada, yada, right?
